LEOFF 2

The Law Enforcement Officers’ and Fire Fighters’ (LEOFF) Plan 2 Retirement Board serves over 19,000 active and retired members of the Washington State LEOFF 2 retirement plan. The Board sets contribution rates for the plan and studies related pension issues. The Board also recommends pension policy to the Legislature in the interest of the members and beneficiaries of the plan.

EPOA SCHOLARSHIPS

The following is the Everett Police Officers Association (EPOA) scholarship application. You may submit this application to the EPOA Executive Board at the address listed below no earlier than February 1, and no later than April 1, to be eligible for the next scholarship award. All applications postmarked on or before April 1st will be reviewed by the EPOA Executive Board and winners will be notified in person or by email.


The EPOA scholarship program was created to provide scholarship money for qualified individuals as listed below.


  1. The applicant demonstrates a financial need for the scholarship

  2. The applicant must be between 17 and 22 years of age

  3. The applicant must be or will be successfully graduated from high school in the current application year or has proof of a General Education Degree (GED) certificate.

  4. The applicant is a child or step-child of an EPOA member to include domestic partnerships.


Up to four (4) scholarships, each scholarship not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00), may be awarded to qualified individuals, as listed above. (Limit of one scholarship per applicant per year)


Criteria will be based upon a number of factors chosen to identify well-rounded individuals who would be enhanced by additional education or training.   In addition to academic competence, other criteria used to evaluate these awards will be:


  1. U. S. Citizenship;

  2. A desire for additional education or training;

  3. Participation in extra-curricular activities such as successfully working a part-time job while in school, participation in sports or cheerleading, band member, etc.

  4. Other outside interests, commitments or service.


An EPOA scholarship may be used at an accredited college, vocational/technical school, or university of the student’s choice. Upon proof of enrollment, the scholarship award will be sent directly to the facility where the recipient plans to attend school.


Please note: An official certified transcript and current letter of recommendation by a counselor or teacher is required along with this application.
